Privacy engineering for Indian MSMEs: where simplicity matters
Small teams need narrower evidence loops, not miniature copies of enterprise governance theatre.
The official framework uses phased implementation; applicability still depends on the organisation and processing facts.
A small organisation can begin with named owners, a compact inventory and a few tested lifecycle paths while avoiding unsupported readiness claims.
Reduce the surface area
Start with the products and systems that actually collect or use personal data. Name owners and purposes before buying tooling.
Prefer evidence loops
A short monthly review of new processing, unresolved requests, access changes and failed deletion tasks can be more useful than a large untested policy pack.
Know the boundary
Simple does not mean universal. Sector rules, contracts, employment data and other applicable law need separate review.
